Per-rental codes are generated automatically through our smart-lock integration (Seam — works with igloohome, August, Yale, and more) the moment a booking is confirmed. Codes are time-bound to the rental window and expire on their own — no app to install, no key to hand off, nothing for a staff member to do.
The renter onboarding flow handles DL upload, selfie verification, and contract signing before pickup is unlocked. By the time the access code goes live, every check that used to require a counter conversation is already done.
The booking-to-pickup flow is entirely customer-driven. Renters book on their phone, complete verification, sign the contract, and receive a code that activates at the start of their window — without you ever touching the dashboard.
Software ships with TrailerBase. Hardware is a one-time purchase per pickup point.
My yard ran 18 contactless rentals last weekend. I was at my kid’s soccer tournament the whole time.
Supported offline smart locks pre-generate codes when the booking is created, so the lock never needs an internet connection at the pickup location.
Codes auto-expire at the end of the rental window with a configurable grace period. New codes can be issued from the dashboard in two clicks if a renter requests an extension.
Annual battery life on a typical smart padlock under normal use, with low-battery alerts at 20% and 10% so you can swap before it matters. A physical backup key is always recommended as a failsafe.
Renters call a 24/7 support line that can issue a manual code override directly to their phone. The dashboard also surfaces a one-click override for operators monitoring after-hours pickups.
Just a one-time hardware purchase per pickup point — typically a smart padlock or keybox, plus optional weatherproof signage with a QR code. There are no recurring hardware fees; pricing varies by the lock model you choose.
