Taking the Guided Product Tour

TrailerBase ships with a 21-step guided product tour that spotlights every major feature of the app. It is the fastest way to learn the interface without reading docs - usually under ten minutes end-to-end.

When the tour launches automatically

The tour starts automatically the first time you log in to a brand-new account, right after the onboarding wizard finishes. You will see a dim overlay fall over the page, a bright spotlight on the first UI element, and a small card with:

  • A numbered step indicator (like "1 of 21")
  • The feature name
  • A one-sentence description
  • Back, Next, and Skip buttons

The 21 steps at a glance

The tour covers, in order:

  1. Dashboard welcome
  2. Top search bar
  3. The global New button
  4. Notifications bell
  5. The Help panel
  6. Dashboard widgets overview
  7. Calendar entry point
  8. Creating a reservation from the calendar
  9. The Rentals page
  10. Reservation detail drawer
  11. Check-in flow
  12. Check-out flow
  13. The Trailers page
  14. Adding a trailer
  15. Trailer pricing fields
  16. Renters page
  17. Quotes page
  18. Invoices and payments
  19. Reports
  20. Settings overview
  21. Where to find help

Each step pauses on the real UI so you can see exactly where a feature lives, not just a screenshot.

Keyboard navigation

You can drive the tour entirely from your keyboard:

  • Right arrow or Enter - Next step
  • Left arrow - Previous step
  • Esc - Exit the tour
  • Space - Pause and let you click around; press Space again to resume

Restarting the tour

You can replay the tour anytime:

  1. Go to Settings > Help and Tutorial.
  2. Click Restart guided tour.
  3. The overlay returns and you start at step 1.

You can also jump to a specific step by opening the same page, clicking Browse tour steps, and picking from the list.

Resuming if you closed your browser

If you close the tab mid-tour, TrailerBase remembers where you left off. The next time you log in you will see a small toast at the top: Resume your tour from step 7? Click Resume to pick up where you left off, or Start over to go back to step 1.

Troubleshooting

  • Overlay will not appear - Make sure your browser zoom is at 100% and any ad blockers are paused for the TrailerBase domain. The spotlight uses measured element positions and fails gracefully if it cannot find the target.
  • Stuck on a step - Click Skip step to move forward without closing the whole tour.
  • Tour is too fast - Use Space to pause and click around, or go back with the left arrow.

What to do after the tour

When you hit step 21, you will see a Great, I am ready button. Clicking it:

  • Marks your account as tour-complete
  • Hides the Resume banner permanently
  • Drops a shortcut on your dashboard linking to the Setup Checklist for anything you still need to configure.
