Using TrailerBase on Mobile

TrailerBase is fully mobile-responsive. You do not need to install a native app - the same URL you use on a desktop works on your phone, and every feature is laid out for a thumb.

Supported browsers

TrailerBase works in any modern mobile browser:

• Safari on iPhone and iPad (iOS 15+)
• Chrome on Android (version 100+)
• Edge, Firefox, and Samsung Internet also work

What the mobile layout looks like

On phones, the app automatically adapts:

• The sidebar collapses into a hamburger menu in the top-left
• Tables become card lists you can tap
• Drawers and modals take the full screen
• Photo uploads open your camera directly
• The calendar defaults to day view

Tablets in landscape get a compact sidebar, similar to desktop but narrower.

Bookmark the app on your home screen

We recommend saving TrailerBase to your home screen so it launches like a native app. This is called a PWA-style add-to-home-screen.

On iPhone (Safari):

1. Sign in to TrailerBase.
2. Tap the Share icon at the bottom of Safari.
3. Scroll and tap Add to Home Screen.
4. Name it "TrailerBase" and tap Add.

On Android (Chrome):

1. Sign in to TrailerBase.
2. Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right.
3. Tap Add to Home screen or Install app.
4. Confirm.

Once added, the TrailerBase icon appears on your home screen. Tapping it launches the app full-screen, without the browser chrome - it looks and feels like a native app.

What works offline

TrailerBase is a cloud app, so most actions need a connection. That said, the mobile app includes limited offline behavior:

• The last-loaded page stays visible if you lose signal
• Photos you have already captured stay in a queue and upload automatically when connection returns
• Forms in progress are preserved locally so you do not lose typed notes

Using the camera for pickups and returns

The Check-In and Check-Out flows use your phone's camera directly. When you tap the photo zone:

1. Your browser requests camera permission the first time - tap Allow.
2. The native camera opens in capture mode.
3. Shoot photos one at a time, or switch to video for a walk-around clip.
4. Photos upload in the background as you take them.

Signing contracts on mobile

Renters can sign contracts from their phone too. They get an SMS or email link, tap it, scroll through the contract, and sign with their finger or stylus. You can re-send the link anytime from the reservation drawer.

Mobile notifications

For real-time alerts, enable push-style notifications:

1. Go to Settings > Notifications on your phone.
2. Turn on Browser notifications.
3. Your browser will prompt you to allow them - tap Allow.

You will get a buzz for new bookings, payment confirmations, and overdue returns, even when TrailerBase is not in the foreground.
