Anchor every trailer to where it belongs

A geofence is a circular boundary around a trailer's expected location. When a check-in puts the trailer outside the circle, TrailerBase raises an alert. Use it to anchor a trailer to your yard, a customer site, or wherever it is supposed to stay.

How TrailerBase geofences work

Each trailer gets one circular fence: a center point, a radius (100 m up to 20 km), and a label like "Home lot" or "Mitchell site." Every automatic check-in is tested against the boundary — a trailer found outside it raises a geofence breach alert, typically within 30 minutes of the crossing.

Setting a geofence

1. Open the trailer's device on the GPS Tracking page.
2. Click Geofence.
3. Click the map (or drag the pin) to set the center — it starts at the trailer's current position.
4. Drag the radius slider to size the circle.
5. Name the zone, flip Enable geofence on, and Save.

The circle draws on the fleet map so you can see the boundary at a glance. Use the same editor to move, resize, disable, or re-enable the fence any time — disabling keeps the settings without alerting.

When the alert fires

A breach alert lands in the notification bell and the GPS alerts list, with the device, how far outside the fence it was, and the check-in that tripped it. An open breach alert will not re-fire while it is unresolved, so a parked breach does not keep spamming you — you get one alert per breach until you resolve it.

Tips

• Start with a fence around your home lot on every trailer — that one zone catches most theft scenarios.
• For a delivered trailer, re-center the fence on the customer site for the rental, then move it back when the trailer returns.
• Pair fences with after-hours movement alerts for a strong security posture.
