Know where every trailer is

GPS Tracking is an Advanced plan feature that puts your whole fleet on a live map. Pair a tracker to a trailer and you can see where it is, see where it has been, and get alerted when something is wrong.

What GPS tracking gives you

1. Fleet map — every paired trailer plotted with its latest position, address, battery level, and speed at check-in
2. Automatic check-ins — each tracker reports in about every 30 minutes, around the clock
3. Locate now — request a fresh position on demand when 30 minutes ago isn't fresh enough
4. Alerts — geofence breaches, after-hours movement, tamper and tow events, speeding, and low battery
5. Location history — every check-in is saved, so you can see where a trailer has been
6. Remote power-mode control — trade battery life for tracking frequency without touching the trailer

The hardware

TrailerBase integrates PassTime GPS trackers as the primary provider. Order them through the TrailerBase order portal (the "Order trackers" link on the GPS Tracking page) — they arrive ready to pair by serial number, with no wiring or extra configuration.

Already running different hardware, like a Trak-4? Connect it over our webhook: configure the device to push its positions to TrailerBase and it appears on the same map.

How positions arrive

Trackers check in automatically about every 30 minutes. Between check-ins, battery-saver trackers sleep to stretch battery life. When you need a live fix, use Locate now on the device — a sleeping tracker will offer a one-click switch to Active tracking (more frequent reporting, at roughly half the battery runtime).

Theft and recovery

Trailers are one of the most commonly stolen rental assets in the country. With a tracker on board you have the last check-in, the location history trail, and on-demand locate — exactly what law enforcement needs to bring a trailer home. Pair that with a geofence and after-hours movement alerts and you hear about a theft while it is still recoverable.

2. A PassTime tracker for each trailer (ordered through the portal), or a webhook-capable tracker you already own

Renter privacy

GPS is operator-only — renters never see live coordinates. Disclosing that a trailer is tracked in your rental contract is good practice, and required in some states.
