Choosing a website template
Templates are the fastest path to a professional-looking site when you already know roughly how you want it to feel. TrailerBase ships with three templates, and you can swap between them at any time without losing a single word of content.
The three templates
Modern Dark
Edgy, high-contrast, confident. Dark backgrounds, sharp typography, vivid accent colors, bold photography. Works best when your brand is performance- or adventure-oriented, when your fleet skews toward high-end enclosed trailers or specialty equipment, or when your customer is younger and visually-driven.
- Backgrounds: near-black with deep gray sections.
- Type: geometric sans-serif for headlines, neutral sans for body.
- Imagery: full-bleed photography with darkened overlays.
- Best for: enclosed cargo, race trailers, toy haulers, specialty gear.
Clean Light
Minimalist, bright, efficient. White space, thin dividers, plenty of breathing room, and a single accent color. Works best when trust, clarity, and "just the facts" are your brand promise. The template gets out of the way and lets your trailers do the talking.
- Backgrounds: white with soft gray section breaks.
- Type: modern serif for headlines, clean sans for body.
- Imagery: bright, natural-light product photography.
- Best for: utility and open trailers, equipment rental, contractor-facing fleets.
Bold & Warm
Trust and approachability. Warm earth-tones, rounded corners, friendly photography, and human-scale type. Feels like a family business that cares. Works best when your customer is a homeowner, a first-time renter, or someone choosing you over a big-box competitor because you are the friendly one.
- Backgrounds: cream and warm gray with amber accents.
- Type: humanist sans-serif throughout.
- Imagery: people-in-scene photography, not isolated products.
- Best for: residential rentals, dump trailers for homeowners, landscaping fleets, tourism markets.
How to pick
Open Website Builder > Templates and hover each one for a live preview using your own inventory and photos. You will see exactly what your site would look like in each design.
Three questions that help:
- Who is my ideal customer? Contractor, homeowner, racer, tourist?
- What does my best competitor look like? Do I want to match the category or stand out?
- What do my photos look like? Dark moody photography shines in Modern Dark and falls flat in Clean Light.
When in doubt, Clean Light is the safest default. It is the most flexible and the easiest to edit without looking off.
Swapping templates
Templates are not destinations — they are starting points. To switch:
- Go to Website Builder > Templates.
- Click Preview on the template you want to try.
- Click Apply template.
Your content is preserved. Page copy, photos, trailer selections, SEO titles, hero images, logo — everything carries over. Only the visual styling changes. If you had made manual CSS-level color tweaks, those revert to the new template defaults and can be reapplied.
You can swap as many times as you want. A lot of operators try all three during the first week and settle on the one that feels most like home.
Template updates
When we improve a template — a better mobile navigation, a faster hero layout, improved typography — your site gets the update automatically the next time you publish. You do not have to do anything. If we ever release a change that could visually shift existing sites, we announce it in advance and give you a chance to opt out.
